This hotel is centrally positioned in Bangkok and is well served by taxi and tuk-tuk. The staff are friendly and helpful and most can speak english. The rooms are large and clean and the breakfast is never ending (with matching never ending views).
I usually stay at the Baiyoke Suite Hotel (about three hundred metres away), the sister hotel to Baiyoke Sky but only half it's height but on this trip the Baiyoke Suite was booked out so we decided to try the Baiyoke Sky. As it turned out, I am very happy that I did. The hotel has a lovely pool, a gymnasium and a golf driving range on the 18th floor!!! That's right, a real golf driving range (with a bar for convenience).
The wait staff are fantastic and can't do enough to help. On this trip, we stayed at the Baiyoke Sky three times as we were travelling and using Bangkok as our hub. That meant we checked in and out three times with the longest trip away being four and a half weeks. Imagine my surprise when we booked back in after our four and a half week absence, to be recognised and welcomed back as "old friends" by the reception staff and the bell-boys but, our biggest surprise was at breakfast the next morning when the wait staff from the girls at the dining room reception to the waiters and the maitre'd all remembered us, remembered our names, remembered what food we liked and how we liked it cooked. They all wai'd to us as we entered the dining room and welcomed us by name! I have stayed in some of the best hotels in Singapore, Australia, the USA and Europe and have NEVER had that level of service.
Because we were leaving and returning three times, I took the opportunity to try the Deluxe rooms in both the Space Zone and the Sky Zone and the Junior Suite in the Standard Zone, all with "free breakfast" included. I always book Deluxe rooms WITH breakfast when travelling in S.E.Asia because in my experience, so called "Superior Rooms" are usually pretty basic and not wirth the few dollars saved. In fact, in my experience I have found that when reading ANY hotel review, most, if not all of the poor reviews come from people who have tried to save a few dollars by booking a "Superior Room" WITHOUT breakfast. They usually complain about how small the room is and how expensive the breakfast is. Their discontent at that usually leads on to complaints about staff and cleanliness - real or imagined (or, what I call nit-picking). TAKE NOTE!
The only issue I observed at the Baiyoke Sky was not of the hotel's making, but rather some guests. When I was checking out for the last time, I was held up in the queue at the cashier for about 20 minutes while a group of six men argued with the cashier over how many bottles of water they had drunk and who had drunk them and how to split the 100 Baht between them (a bottle of water was 20 Baht, about $A0.60 each). I almost stepped in to pay the 100 Baht myself. I couldn't believe how heated the conversation became from the mens side however the young female cashier took all their insults in her stride and sent for the evidence: the empty bottles from their rooms.
Would I stay here again? You bet I would, in an instant.
REMEMBER: DELUXE ROOM WITH BREAKFAST - You won't be disappointed!
We stayed at Baiyoke Sky for 9 days in a junior suite room. Rooms are large enough, a bit dated, but more than adequate. Only downside I saw was the elevators sometimes get really busy with tourist traffic headed to the top of the hotel or the restaurants at the top also. Large breakfast every day on the 78th floor. Same breakfast, no variety in 9 days.
People were extremely pleasant and helpful. This hotel is in the heart of the markets so food and shopping is at the doorsteps. Traffic is bad in Bangkok, so be prepared to wait in traffic when you get near the popular area.
Nothing much ..only good view with big room in Sky zone...very comfy..really big enough to run around.Worth the money.Only thing...PLEASE PROVIDE FREE WIFI IN ROOM rather den to PAY AND PAY!!!Annoying...can't share the very first moment out to everyone...
