The Majestic Hotel Sakon Nakhon
OK
I stayed at the MJ for about a week in Dec 2011 and the main reason for writing the review is to redress the balance from some of the others. The hotel is split in 2 parts, and it is probably fair to say that the rooms in the building which houses the restaurant are better value. Pricing when I was there was 800, 1000 and 1200. Best value in my opinion were the 1000 baht rooms. Although some people might feel they are overpaying, really the MJ is one of the best value places in town. Plenty of the others in the 350-600 range are a serious leg down, whereas the MJ was clean, well serviced and maintained, offered Wifi and breakfast. Sorry, but I would expect a hotel that caters mainly to Thais to lean toward Thai food in it's restaurant offerings so I can't agree with Lars - however, the chef is *definitely* a weak point here. I wouldn't eat there in the evenings - but there's plenty of choice in the area unless you are straight off the plance from Europe, and if you are then you probably shouldn't bother with Sakon in the first place!

:-(
good location, close to center of city and close to bigC store. In front of hotel have evening market everyday. But the rooms are not worth the price u pay, room looks like from the 80's (even did't had boiler for hot water in bathroom for a 1000 bath up room!!!!)

NOTHING SPECIAL
The first room I was put in was anabsolute disgrace. The bathroom was infested with ants!!
After compplaining to the manager I was moved to another room which was much better.
Breakfast was the only meal I eat there. Egg and sausage every day. Catered mainly for Thais
